Sun & Moon Apartment redefines compact living through a dynamic use of space that defies small-scale conventions. In this north-facing penthouse (overlooking Elizabeth Bay), clever custom joinery and an open-plan layout prioritise generous social areas for seamless entertaining, featuring an 8-person dining table and a modular blue sofa.
A grand, open living-dining space and a luxurious, hammam-inspired bathroom are contrasted with a cosy, cocoon-like bedroom nook. Limited by NSW’s stringent building regulations regarding alterations to walls in apartments, the home was completely reconfigured using custom joinery. Installing a large veneer cabinet that runs the length of the apartment created a cosy ‘bedroom nook’ — dedicated solely to sleeping — hidden behind a sliding door. In the living room, the joinery wall serves as a TV unit and a bar, while in the kitchen, the tall cupboards are used as wardrobes.
